Can there be a more inspiring way to walk in the path of health and wellness than meeting someone who walks the talk of healthy lifestyle and good family values?
This week, we had the opportunity to be invited by Celebrity Mom magazine to spend a day and celebrate Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan’s birthday at the famous Nurture Spa Village in Tagaytay. Let us give you a quick summary of how dreamy that day was.
There were seven of us from Mommy Bloggers Philippines who were invited for this trip. We arrived at Nurture Spa by 10:00 in the morning and though the sun was already at it’s peak, the cool breeze in Tagaytay welcomed us as if telling us that we were all in for a treat. The village was teeming with colors of the earth; green, brown, white because of the clouds, and blue of the sky. Everything brought us back to nature and thus we were all calmed and settled.
The Celebrant
Maricel was a sight to behold. With her red and flowing sundress, she also wore that friendly smile which made us feel relaxed. She was with her beautiful daughter and dashing husband Anthony Pangilinan. One by one, Maricel’s friends, most were from show business also, came and greeted Maricel. We saw couple Mariz and Ronnie Ricketts, Rica Peralejo, Liz Almoro, Melissa De Leon, Margie Barreto-Misolas (*Maricel wears the red sun dress from Margie’s shop TeesandThings) and Maricel’s sister Mutya Crisostomo. We saw how happy Maricel was with her friends and her family.
Feast At The Nurture Spa Village
Nurture Spa prepared for this day very well. At least four long tables with chairs were waiting for us in their function hall. The area was nicely decorated, and semi-open and so we can all still here the rustling of leaves and the chirping of birds.
As it turned out, Nurture Spa had a small program for all of us before lunch. We were all directed to go out to a nearby farm, walk a few meters and see Nurture Spa farmacy which is a modestly sized farm filled with organic plants and produces which are being sold in the Nurture Spa village. All the ladies looked beautiful with their brim hats on and had glowing skin kissed by the sun.
When we got back, lunch was served and we all had our fill of sumptuous leaves for the salad, tuna fish, steamed vegetables, chicken, beef tapa, and veggie pasta. Who says eating healthy can’t be delicious? Our desserts included carrot cakes, champorado, turon with vanilla ice cream, and house specialty suman. We got to eat Suman brought over from Maricel’s good friend Kuh Ledesma from her own farm Hacienda Isabella.
Wellness Program
After a delicious feast for our tummes, we had a feast of healthy information for our minds. Maricel’s husband, who was casual but nonetheless good-looking that day, gave us a quick talk about stress and time management. We learned how it is possible to have a happy, balanced lifestyle through the correct mindset and support from families and friends.
After Anthony’s talk, one of the owners of Nurture Spa Village, the most elegant Cathy Turvill held a mini-workshop about essential oils, how you distinguish the most expensive ones from the cheap ones, how these oils were painstakingly extracted and of course, how beneficial they can be to our health and wellness. Afterwards, one of Nurture Spa’s massage therapist taught us some basic massaging tips which we can apply at home. Nurture Spa uses only premium quality essential oils for their guests. Cathy also introduced us to a vegetable plant called kale, it’s nutrient contents and how good it is for our bodies.
Before capping off the mini-program, the crew and staff of Nurture Spa presented to us a series of cultural dances native to the Philippines. They wore different masks and costumes to represent some of the ethnic dances of the country. Ms Cathy pointed out to us that the village is not only about bringing back their guests to nature but also about showing how rich our Filipino culture is. Proud to be a Filipino she is.
A Delightful Spa Treat Before The End Of The Day
Finally, the highlight of the day came to being when we were called one by one to go with our personal therapists that day to our own cabanas. We will leave the story telling how Nurture Spa gave each of us a lasting impression of how lucky we were that we get to visit their place. No wonder Nurture Spa has been famous for twelve years. Check more on our blogs, or else, we will have the longest page for this feature 🙂
We will always be thankful to Celebrity Mom magazine, Celebrity Mom’s Jojie Coloma, Cathy Turvill of Nurture Spa Village , Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan who had been most gracious to us, Kimberly-Clark for all the beautiful stuff and toiletries we received before going home.
