The Filipino’s resilience is known all over the world, and now it will be reaching the farthest ends up to The North Pole. Thanks to FWD Life Philippines, one of the country’s fastest-growing insurers, one of our own, a cancer survivor, a multi-sport athlete who engages in mixed-martial arts, boxing, and triathlons, will be our country’s representative in the upcoming FWD North Pole Marathon 2018.
FWD Life Insurance Corporation (“FWD Life”) is the first life insurance company licensed by the Insurance Commission of the Philippines under the new Insurance Code. FWD launched its commercial operations in September 2014. Last February 20, FWD launched its “Blaze a Trail in the Arctic” campaign to make the people more aware of the upcoming FWD North Pole Marathon happening on April 9, 2018. Bloggers and media personalities gathered inside The Mind Museum to participate in a trivia hunt. Special prizes and exclusive FWD North Pole Marathon items were given to those who were able to finish the trivia hunt successfully.
The North Pole Marathon is recognized by the Guinness World Records as the “Northernmost Marathon on Earth” and in this event, contestants chosen from 6 Asian countries will be traversing a 43-kilometer path with the freezing temperature of -30 degrees centigrade. “As a brand that continues to change the way people feel about insurance, FWD saw the North Pole Marathon as a unique platform to empower people to overcome extreme challenges, to pursue their aspirations without worries, and to ignite their passion for life-enriching experiences,” said FWD Life Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Grimes. “With Blaze a Trail in the Arctic as our Philippine campaign promoting the marathon, we aim to encourage Filipinos to live life to the fullest, because we will always have their back!”
The North Pole Marathon is recognized by the Guinness World Records as the “Northernmost Marathon on Earth” and in this event, contestants will be traversing a 43-kilometer path with the freezing temperature of -30 degrees centigrade. Our country’s representative, Louie Sangalang, is the perfect example of Filipino bravery and faith. A proud cancer survivor, Louie was diagnosed with cancer of the appendix when he was 21. But instead of giving up, Louie—who has been in remission since 2000—turned to sports and was able to bounce back successfully.
But Louie will definitely not be going up the North Pole without help. FWD will be providing Louie with insurance protection so that he can embrace the North Pole Marathon challenge worry-free. More than that, FWD also formed a North Pole Marathon squad who will help in preparing Louie in all aspects. The squad is composed of triathlon icon Ani De Leon-Brown, physical fitness coach Ige Lopez; mountain climber Romi Garduce, Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan and son Benjamin, and sports enthusiast and funny man Sam YG.
FWD Life Philippines and the North Pole Marathon Squad will be behind Louie in this one-of-a-kind challenge which he has to beat for himself, for his family, for his team and for his country. Let’s all root for Louie and include him in our dreams and prayers because the trip to the North Pole may be cold, but our supportive spirits will always be warm. Goodluck FWD! Goodluck Louie!
