Another day, another trend. That’s right folks; today, we are focusing on makeup in this piece and what it is bringing to the trend table in 2021.
Whether you are into bright and bold looks or prefer a neutral natural vibe, there is something in here for everyone, if not for the fact that we can all do exactly whatever we like to our own faces.
Read this piece to find out what looks you have been scrolling through on Instagram all in one place and how you can replicate them.
The Bold Eye
It does not feel that long ago since we were using white eyeliner as a hack for a decent base to make your chosen eyeshadow color ‘pop’, but the white liner has very much upgraded its status to being the star of the show. Now you can expect to see intricate patterns in both white liner and colored liners over the eyelid and beyond as a new makeup look staple for this summer.
False eyelashes have also become a daily affair over one of those “special night out” treats, which really does bring a whole bold eye look together. If you struggle to apply lashes, practice makes perfect, and you will nail it in no time!
Light Coverage Foundation
You won’t see everyone reaching for a light to medium coverage foundation, that’s for sure. Sometimes you just can’t convert a full coverage user into, well, using less coverage. But for those who really want to hop on to the 2021 trends, a lighter coverage foundation or BB cream that leaves your skin glowing, and more importantly, textured is the way forward. We have Gen Z to thank for their activism in body positivity, including spots, scars, pigmentation, and fine lines, which has now reached a point where blemishes look cute, and freckles are being drawn on over hidden. Light coverage offers you that little comfort blanket without dampening the traits that make you, you. That being said, foundation can be a pain to match to your skin tone and color, which is why it is best you go in-store and find a match before you invest. Also, do not forget that you can redeem your Sally Beauty rewards too.
This ‘imperfectly perfect’ message is definitely a trend that can stick around – just try and take it away from us!
The Reverse Ombre Red Lip
A look that appears to be designed to make you look like you have been kissed senseless (when we haven’t, because COVID), the ombre lip is an interesting mix of a full bold red or pink lip which is then adapted with a slick of concealer. Simply apply your lipstick as normal, and then line your lips with concealer after (use a separate brush, so you do not transfer lip product back into your concealer tube) and then blend aggressively until the concealer melts effortlessly into the red color. This should give you a ‘just bitten’ look if you do it right, and if you don’t, that’s what makeup remover is for.
