“Marry Me” Throws Us Back To Our Own Love Stories

Posted on by

Six years ago, Annie (Casey Wilson, “Happy Endings”) and Jake (Ken Marino, “Eastbound & Down”) bonded over their mutual love of nachos and they’ve been inseparable ever since. It ain’t a bike ride for this long-time couple when their deeply committed relationship turns into a long and bumpy ride on the way to the altar.

Marry Me - Season 1After dating her boyfriend, Jake, for so long, Annie figured he would pop the question during their romantic getaway. Well, he didn’t. When they return home, Annie throws a monster of a tantrum over her single lady state. This was at the very moment Jake was going to put a ring on her finger.

Marry Me - Season 1

Premiering on February 13, Friday at 9:30pm (8:30pm JKT/BKK), MARRY ME is RTL CBS Entertainment HD’s new sitcom which stars Casey Wilson as the lovable but over-the-top, high-strung Annie and Ken Marino as her level-headed and totally enamoured boyfriend, Jake. The cast also includes Sarah Wright Olsen John Gemberling, Tymberlee Hill, Tim Meadows and Dan Bucatinsky.

Marry Me - Season 1Do you remember how your husband proposed to you? Was it a fairy tale story or was it a disaster-at-first-altar-at-the-end number? Do you think Annie and Jake, who aren’t exactly a match-made-heaven will eventually make it to their dream wedding?

Awww, it’s a new sitcom. Will watch out for this.

My husband and I had been so comfortable with each other, we just casually agreed to get married and started planning the thing. Until the morning before our wedding, he deliberately made the romantic gesture.

We were on our way to church March 28, Sunday, when he suddenly made a turn in a grassy area nearing the venue. I thought something was wrong with the car that I borrowed from my dad, so I started to panic. But when he stopped, he took out the ring and said the words, “will you marry me?”

It wasn’t an all out romantic, youtube sensation type of proposal but it was everything I wanted – private, just me and him…and just the fact that he made the effort to buy a diamond ring to give to me made me happy.

We were on a cruise with his whole family when it happened. It was during formals night where we were all dressed up in our finest.

After dinner, he excused himself to go to the toilet. It took a while before he came back but not before his 2 young nephews approached me first. We played and chatted for a while. Suddenly, the older one asked, “Will you marry my uncle?”. At first I thought he was just curious or joking but suddenly from out of nowhere, husband came out and kneeled on one and popping the ring.

And the rest, as they say, is history. 🙂

Awww… That’s kinda funny yet romantic..

I remember when pichi proposed it was during the time that my parents were freakin mad at me cause I was pregnant at 18 (like they weren’t talking to me unless necessary) and we were on the way to get our marriage lisence and consent at the city hall. So we were catching up on what has happened and while we were at SLEX and he was driving, he asked me to open the box by the Dashboard cause he needed to get something in there. Then what was inside is a blue velvet case for a ring and he said.. “Alam ko medyo huli na pero gusto ko pa rin tanungin… Will you marry me? ”

The funny thing was that we became BF/GF while he was driving me home and I said that yep we’re a couple now and he proposed in a car as well. 🙂

Miguel and I used to be co-trainees. His proposal wasn’t the grandest but it made me feel so special because he popped the question the very same night that we became a couple. He said he couldn’t let another day pass without asking me to be spend the rest of our lives together. I said yes but opted a long time engagement. We got married on a very special date…12-12-12.

We were each other’s first love and each others’ last bf/gf. It took us 10 years (from 6th grade to college/med school) and three failed relationships each, before the right love finally came back at the right time. Two weeks after we became a couple, he held my hand tight while we were just lounging around waiting for time to pass, and he told me that we’re getting married. He said it with such sincerity and certainty that I didnt have room to doubt it. It was matter of fact for him, for us. And thats how I wanted it! That was how I have always envisioned my “non-proposal”. I didn’t want a grand gesture, dance moves, diamond rings or “pamamanhikan” (asking my parents for permission). I wanted my man to be so sure of himself and my love for him that he didn’t have to ask me whether I wanted to marry him because he already knew it.

Our love story is unique, nagkakilala kami via skype. I searched for the nice name ng mga boys para makipagkaibigan, so I send message to Ian (“Hi”) of course hindi pa sya nag reply agad, the following day pa sya nag reply. Then, we started to exchange messages via skype, after a week we decided to meet in person, after a week of getting to know each other, nanligaw na sya and guess what after a week, kami na. Yes hindi ko na pinatagal yung panliligaw nya kasi that very moment ng mag meet kami in person naramdaman ko na sya talaga. We’ve been in bf/gf stage for 5 years and we got married exactly on our 6th anniversary which is July 24, 2012 (07-24-12). Pano sya nag propose? Actually, tulad ng ibang girls laging ineexpect na magpro-propose either birthday or anniversary, ganyan rin ako, I expect na magpro-propose sya sa akin during our 4th year anniversary trip sa HK, but sad to say hindi sya dun nag propose. Nag propose sya sa akin sa Boracay Terraces. We had a 4 days trip in Boracay with our friends, dapat daw sa 1st day palang mag pro-propose na sya pero parang hindi sya makakuha ng tyempo, until nung nag 3rd day na, naiwan kami sa veranda ng hotel kasi nagpho-photoshoot pa kami, inaayos nya yung camera not knowing na video pala yun, then sa inis ko sa kanya kc ang ang tagal ko ng nakababad sa initan ayun, lapit sya and biglang lumuhod sa akin. I don’t know what to say, sabi nga nila expect the unexpected. So after 1 year and half of being engaged couple we got married on our 6th anniversary. 07-24-12 is so special, why? ika nga nya sa wedding vows nya, ang meaning daw ng wedding date namin is:

7 days of laughter and happiness
    24 hours of fruitful life
    12 months of intimate love
    = FOREVER!

Him: Do you see the moon?
    Me; Yep I see it.
Him: Do you see the lone star right under it?
    Me: Nope.
    Him: Look harder.
ME: I think I see it now.
Him: Do you see what’s under that star?
    Me: Houses?
Him: No. Just look at the things right in front of us straight below the star.
Me: Mmmmmmm what am I looking for?
    Him: Do you see anything?
    Me: Nope.
    Him: Look harder.
    Me: The gate?
    Him: Yeah?
    Me: And?
    Him: Do you see anything?
    Me: The gate?
Him: Anything else aside from the gate?
    Me: The house?
Him: Let’s go back to the gate.
    Me: Yeah?
Him: See anything different with the gate?
    Me: Nope.
Him: See anything ON THE GATE?
    Me: What’s with the gate?!
HIM: My God, woman! Just look harder!
    Me: AT THE GATE?
Him: DO YOU SEE ANYTHING SITTING ON TOP OF THE GATE STRAIGHT BELOW THE STAR?
    ME: Uhmmm a box….
    Him: Yeah?….
    ME: OMG A BOX!!!!

So I ran to it, opened it up and saw a silver ring with the date April 8, 2002 (the day we became gf and bf) engraved.

    Him: Will you marry me?
Me: ARE YOU CRAZY? OF COURSE I WILL MARRY YOU!

He made his vows with the same ring only that he had the engravings changed to October 26, 2004, our wedding day. 😀
