We firmly believe that once you decided to become a mom, you naturally become someone who is much different from your old self. Someone tougher, more like a warrior. When it comes to your child, you are always ready to protect and fight. If you are a new mom, you might have not experienced it yet, but wait for it, you’ll never know how far you can go as a mom. For the more experienced moms, we just can’t list out all the instances when we became proud of ourselves that we are able to fight for our family.
Women have definite power these days, not only as consumers, but also as leaders. They are the “game changers” because people can easily connect with them through various social media outlets. Why? Because Filipina women these days realize that they have the charisma, the voice to be heard, and the passion to succeed.
Last June 13, a day after the celebration of Philippine Independence Day, the leading women’s channel DIVA and Swiss Miss, in cooperation with Lactacyd, organized a short black-and-white talk at Rockwell, Powerplant Mall, to highlight the different categories of the High-Heeled Warriors. The event moderator that day was the beautiful and talented event host Arianne Serafico.
The Heartwarmers
The caring, loyal and supportive spirit motivated by family and belonging, who believes that money can’t buy the happiness that family brings. The founders of Mommy Bloggers Philippines were invited to represent this category : Lanie Lluch of TweenselMom.com, Louisa Mercado of ArtofBeingAMom and Joy Gurtiza of JoyGurtiza.com. Each of their stories as mothers who balance their time, juggling tasks of being work at home moms and nurturing their families at the same time, they emphasized how mothers can prioritize their families without forgetting themselves. Mothers are the silent forces working within each families, but when you turn the spotlights on them, they can’t help but shine.
The Social Siders
The Social Siders are the women who are sociable, optimistic and content. They love their friends and enjoy making new ones. This category was represented by the very young founder of Woman, Create, Marika Callangan. She showed how her social connections with like-minded and energetic ladies like her helped her establish an organization which empowers young women through art and creativity.
The Passionistas are the go-getter, the adventurous, spontaneous and assertive Filipina women. Who can be more appropriate to represent this category than the founders of The Plump Pinay and advocates of body acceptance, The Plump Pinays Danah and Stacy Gutierrez. They have the “live in the moment” attitude and are independent and care-free.
After the presentation of the categories and the women who represent them, the audience was encouraged to sign the black and white studio shots they got from the photo booth before the start of the program. After that, as a commitment to the roles they have as true Filipina High-Heeled Warriors, they were given the chance to stick their photos on the category black boards in front of the stage.

It was truly an event filled with inspiration and dedication. Kudos to DIVA Channel and NBCUniversal for coming up with such an event for Filipina women and for their wonderful TV programs geared on highlighting women power! We will always be grateful for these opportunities to show how women can shine, whether they are young or old, thin or plump, single ladies or flourishing moms.
Always happy to support the wonderful diva mommies of MBP! 🙂
