Presenting The Finalists For The 6th Jollibee Family Values Awards

Posted on by

Jollibee has revealed the list of 15 families who will vie for top honors in the 6th Jollibee Family Values Awards (JFVA) to be conferred this October. JFVA is the company’s annual program that brings together the most exemplary Filipino families that made a difference in their communities through their chosen advocacies.

IMG_0913-smallThree families from Metro Manila, five from North Luzon, two from South Luzon, two from Visayas, one from Mindanao, and two families based overseas comprise this year’s finalists. They bested more than 300 entries received and evaluated by a screening committee and the 2016 JFVA board of judges led by its two-time chairman, Senator Bam Aquino.

“We like heroes. We like individual achievement, but looking at this award, you get to see that no one is raised in a vacuum. The values that one person has really comes from their family,” said Sen. Aquino. Ten other members join him in the distinguished panel in charge of identifying the most deserving families who will make it to top six and receive special citations recommended by JFVA partners.

Fellow veteran JFVA judge and Mowelfund Trustee and President, Boots Anson-Rodrigo, shared what she liked most about this year’s JFVA entries. “Their approaches to these advocacies were very creative. You have restaurants, music, and other activities. It’s a happy, warm feeling that the Filipinos are still a people to reckon with.”

Completing the JFVA panel of judges are columnist, TV host and first-time JFVA judge Suzi Entrata-Abrera, children’s advocate and columnist Audrey Tan-Zubiri, ANC news anchor Edric Mendoza, international speaker, columnist and author Francis Kong, Coca-Cola Philippines Public Affairs and Communications Director Atty. Adel Tamano, parenting and relationship consultant Ma. Isabel Dionisio, Jollibee Global Chief Marketing Officer Francis Flores, Jollibee Group Foundation Vice President Belen Rillo and Jollibee Philippines Human Resources Head George Wang III.

JFVA judge Suzi Entrata-Abrera, shared her first experience and why she found the JFVA to be a truly worthwhile exercise.  “This advocacy of Jollibee and these people who are awarded brings us to the basics: To help whenever we can, to be a good family member, to be a good member of the community. That’s what we’re made for.”

Among those vying for the JFVA are the Arquiza family (Camarines Norte), Basa family (Roxas City), Bumacas family (Nueva Ecija), Cabading family (Zamboanga City), Caballero family (Negros Oriental), Cabalza family (Tuguegarao City), Canoy family (Quezon City), Castañeda family (Quezon City), Enverga family (Lucena City), David family (Bataan), Sison family (Baguio City), Sola family (Quezon City), and Vizcocho family (Benguet).

The only two OFW finalists joining the slate are the San Gabriel-Eng family (San Francisco, California) and the Par family (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia).

The winning families will be recognized during the JFVA Gabi ng Parangal para sa Pamilyang Pilipino to be held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel on October 7.

The top six, consisting of five model families and one OFW family, will all receive a cash prize of P300,000, a trophy designed by renowned sculptor Michael Cacnio, and P10,000 worth of Jollibee gift certificates. Special citations will also be bestowed to families who promote the following advocacies as endorsed by the citation partners: Education (co-presented with National Bookstore), Environment (Landbank), Children (Children’s Hour), PWDs (National Council for Disability Affairs), and Minority Groups (Kalipunan ng mga Katutubong Mamamayan ng Pilipinas – Katribu). This year, Jollibee will also award the very first Special Citation for Youth Empowerment.

The 6th Jollibee Family Values Awards is made possible with the support of co-presenter Coca-Cola Philippines, family activity partner RAVE (Rainforest Adventure Experience), and official hotel partners Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria and Holiday Inn Manila Galleria.

First time to hear about this award. In this generation, we tend to forget about values and even take families for granted. It’s great to acknowledge families like this.
