Get Into The Quaker Smart Heart Challenge And Win A Healthy Heart Plus Exciting Prizes

Posted on by

In a recent survey conducted by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), they found that one out of two adult Filipinos has borderline to high cholesterol mainly because of unhealthy diet and lifestyle.

To simplify this, if you don’t have a high cholesterol count, chances are that the next person beside you does. That’s how high this unhealthy stat is. And what’s the main reason behind it? Most of us love to eat fatty foods that contribute to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Not surprisingly, based on the latest report of the Philippine Statistics Authority, heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the country.

Fortunately, if you happen to read this, you still have a chance to save yourself from unhealthy-food related diseases by taking the Quaker Smart Heart Challenge.

First introduced in 2004 in the Philippines, the challenge was developed to demonstrate how adding oatmeal to your daily diet helps reduce cholesterol. “Oats is a common cereal noted for its heart benefits, owing particularly to its high soluble fiber content called beta-glucan,” says Dr. Rodolfo F. Florentino, Immediate Past Chairman-President of the Nutrition Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. “Scientific studies have shown that beta-glucan is capable of lowering the cholesterol level in the blood, particularly LDL-cholesterol,” he adds.

How To Join The Quaker Smart Heart Challenge

1. Go to http://m.me/QuakerOatsPhilippines using your mobile phone.

2. Answer a series of questions about your current health status and your information where your Starter Kit will be delivered if ever you qualify in joining the challenge.

3. When you qualify, you will be given a participant number that you will register when you go to a Quaker booth to have a free blood cholesterol check (no fasting needed).

The Quaker Smart Heart Challenge is clearly a much needed initiative. It’s so hard to eat healthy sometimes — work and other obligations make grabbing a processed thing so much easier. But I love that this challenge makes you really think about food and about overall heart health.
