Join And Support Moms On Likhang HABI Online Market Fair Featuring HABI Mama

Posted on by

HABI – the Philippine Textile Council has been a strong forefront of its advocacy in supporting weaving communities and local artisans all over the Philippines. HABI supports an ecosystem of makers and mothers all over the Philippines and to show support for mothers on Mother’s Day, the Likhang HABI Market Fair will showcase HABI Mama Gift sets and it will be an online affair through www.shophabifair.com from May 1-9 2021.

This HABI mama project focuses on helping out the mothers of the HABI community. Their livelihoods been affected by the ongoing pandemic and natural disasters. Because of the recent typhoon that hit the Bicol and Catanduanes regions in particular, many of our weaving communities have been affected – – many of them losing their abaca crops, thus no raw materials, or weaving shelters and weaving looms completely washed away by the typhoons.

HABI has been helping communities like these rebuild their home industry. It is also the main reason why HABI has continuously decided to create several themed fairs for this year to be an outlet and aversion of a circular economy – help local artisans and weaving communities.

“Mothers are the ones who shepherd these traditions to their families. They are the ones who pass it all on, from weaving to love to kids. So HABI is making a special collection in gratitude to all mothers carrying what it means to be Filipino to their children. We hope that you make this special day to remember your mother and any other who cared for you like a mother. Most importantly, that we all work together to help market, spread the word, and have a strong online support system with all of us working together. After all, weavers are mothers too. HABI Mama – mothers supporting mothers.”  says HABI vice president Ruby Roa and mother’s day fair co-chairperson
