Inspiring the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs: Filipino Student Recognized at the 2025 FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge

Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, together with Junior Achievement (JA), has announced the winners of the 2025 FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge (ITC) Asia Pacific finals in Singapore. Among the standout achievers was a Filipino student who excelled on the global stage alongside peers from Vietnam, Hong Kong SAR, and Thailand.

This year’s competition drew over 4,700 students from nine markets across Asia Pacific. Out of these, 54 students reached the finals, where they were tasked to design a market entry strategy for an eco-friendly product made from discarded textiles, targeting consumers in France.

Young Entrepreneurs Take on Sustainability Challenges

To foster collaboration and cultural exchange, students were paired into teams of two from different countries. They pitched their ideas before a panel of Singapore’s leading entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Team Spicy Noodles (Republic of Korea and Vietnam) took first place with their eco-friendly upcycling brand transforming textile waste into custom embroidered artwork.
Two runner-up teams also shined:

  • Team Innovement: Janelle Anika S. Tan from the Philippines and Royden So from Hong Kong SAR, who created a smart wall panel from discarded textiles.
  • Team ReTex: Panasarn Traithavil from Thailand and Lan Anh Phan from Vietnam, who developed a solar panel line integrating textile waste.

Building Global Leaders Through Innovation

“For nearly two decades, FedEx has proudly championed this program, empowering young entrepreneurs to think beyond borders,” said Kawal Preet, President, Asia Pacific, FedEx. “By fostering creativity, determination, and global mindset, we are investing in a future of commerce that is sustainable, connected, and resilient.”

Maribeth Espinosa, Managing Director of FedEx Philippines, added: “We are especially proud to see a Filipino student among this year’s winners. It proves that Filipino youth have the ingenuity and determination to compete globally.”

Beyond the Challenge: Hands-On Experience at FedEx

For the first time, the winning teams will have the chance to visit FedEx operations facilities in their local markets. This mentorship experience will give them practical insights into global logistics and supply chain management, complementing their entrepreneurial skills.

Since its launch, the FedEx/JA ITC has introduced 50,000+ students across Asia Pacific to business, economics, and international trade through classroom learning and teamwork.
