Finding a job today is tougher than ever. With applications per job post rising by 179% year-on-year, standing out in a sea of resumes has become a real challenge. To help young job seekers boost their chances, Jobstreet by SEEK shared practical resume and interview tips during its “Ready, Set, Hired!” workshop at the WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025, in partnership with TESDA.
Why Resumes and Interviews Matter More Than Ever
According to Jobstreet by SEEK, 75% of resumes never reach hiring managers—often due to weak formatting or missing details. And even when applicants make it to the interview, hirers usually form a decision within the first 90 seconds.
This is why crafting a strong resume and preparing well for interviews can make or break a candidate’s chances.
Essential Resume and Interview Tips from Experts
During the workshop, over 100 participants learned how to:
- Write resumes effectively – Highlight relevant skills, use strong action words, and tailor details to the role.
- Ace interviews – Research the company, practice confident responses, and use effective non-verbal communication.
- Dress for success – Present themselves professionally for added confidence.
- Practice through mock interviews – With guidance from resume clinic experts and a style consultant.
These hands-on activities gave candidates the tools to better communicate their potential to employers.
Empowering the Next Generation of Workers
“At Jobstreet by SEEK, we have seen how technical and vocational skills are becoming increasingly valuable in today’s digital economy. Through initiatives like ‘Ready, Set, Hired,’ we hope to empower more young professionals with the skills and confidence they need to succeed,” said Dannah Majarocon, Managing Director of Jobstreet by SEEK Philippines.
This initiative not only supports TESDA’s mission of workforce readiness but also bridges the gap between talent and opportunities—helping Filipino youth build stronger futures.
