When passion meets purpose, excellence follows — and this year, Shell Pilipinas Corporation proved just that as it wrapped up the Shell Mekaniko League 2025, celebrating the grit and craftsmanship of Filipino auto and motorcycle mechanics.
Bringing together more than 2,000 participants from 26 provinces, this year’s competition marked a historic milestone — the first time both car and motorcycle mechanics competed under one national platform.
A Nationwide Celebration of Filipino Skill and Dedication
From its kickoff in March to the Grand Finale at Le Pavillon, Pasay City, the Shell Mekaniko League combined high-stakes competition with practical learning opportunities.
Participants underwent TESDA-certified training modules, gaining credentials toward NC I and NC II certifications, which open doors to better employment and livelihood prospects.
Semi-finalists were challenged through written exams, parts identification, and live repair demonstrations — tests that mirrored real workshop experiences. Winners at this stage each received ₱50,000 and advanced to the highly anticipated Grand Finale.
At the national showdown, two champions emerged:
Charlie Sandoval (Caloocan City) – Shell Advance Masters 2025 National Champion
Mark Anthony Calimag (Quezon City) – Shell Helix Auto Mekaniko Champions 2025 National Champion
Both champions took home ₱200,000 in cash and an all-expenses-paid trip to Malaysia to witness the MotoGP, along with top finalists from across the country.
“What began in 2024 with a handful of regional runs has grown into a true nationwide movement that celebrates the grit, craftsmanship, and livelihood of Filipino mekanikos,” shared Jackie Famorca, Vice President and General Manager for Lubricants at Shell Pilipinas Corporation.
Empowering the Motorcycle and Auto Industry
TESDA also expressed strong support for Shell’s initiative.
“Seeing the passion and commitment of our motorcycle mechanics is inspiring,” said Brian Landicho, TESDA Competency Assessor for Small Engine Servicing NC2. “TESDA supports Shell Advance’s efforts to raise industry standards through certified training.”
The Shell Advance Masters category, designed for motorcycle mechanics, focused on hands-on skill development, diagnostics, and workshop best practices, helping local technicians upgrade their expertise and gain recognition in their field.
Meanwhile, the Shell Helix Auto Mekaniko Champions track emphasized excellence in car servicing and repair, promoting professional standards across the country’s automotive industry.
Building Stronger Livelihoods for Filipino Mechanics
Beyond the competition, the Shell Mekaniko League serves a larger purpose — to professionalize and uplift mekaniko work through training, mentorship, and industry partnerships.
These efforts are part of Shell’s mission to:
Enhance road safety through quality workmanship
Provide better livelihood opportunities for skilled mechanics
Elevate service standards in workshops nationwide
By combining training with recognition, Shell continues to show how empowering Filipino workers can transform communities and drive the country forward.
