Qantas Launches Nonstop Flights to Brisbane: A New Gateway for Filipinos to Australia

Filipinos now have more travel options to explore Australia as Qantas, the national carrier of Australia, introduces new nonstop flights from Manila to Brisbane, Queensland.

Starting with an Airbus A330 flying four times a week, this new route will add over 100,000 seats annually between the Philippines and Australia. This service is in addition to Qantas’ existing daily flights to Sydney.

A Look Back at Qantas’ History in the Philippines

Qantas first made its mark in the Philippines back in 1947 with Lancastrian aircraft supporting Australian military operations. In 1950, passenger services began, followed by the introduction of the Super Constellation in 1955. The first jet flights using Boeing 707 aircraft launched in 1961, allowing nonstop travel from Manila to Sydney.

Today, Qantas operates over 300,000 seats between the Philippines and Australia annually, and the airline is set to celebrate its 75th anniversary of passenger services between the two countries in 2025.

More Travel Choices for Filipinos

With this new direct service, Filipinos also gain easier access to New Zealand, with seamless connections to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown via Brisbane.

Cam Wallace, Qantas International CEO, shared:

“The Philippines is a strong market for Qantas, and we’re excited to respond to the demand with this new direct flight to Brisbane. Many of our customers currently travel to Brisbane via Sydney, so this nonstop service will make it easier and faster for Filipinos to reach Queensland.”

“Just an overnight flight away, Brisbane is the ideal starting point for exploring Australia. From Queensland, travelers can enjoy stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and expansive countryside, all while experiencing our famous Australian hospitality.”
