Mars Global Adoption Weekend Returns with a Heart for Shelter Animals

Now on its second year, the 2025 Global Adoption Weekend expands to over 20 countries, shining a light on how adopting a shelter pet can transform not just one, but two lives—the pet’s and the new owner’s.

In the Philippines, Mars partners once again with the Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) at the 10th Anniversary Run Fur Life held in Manila. The event drew over a thousand participants—both human and canine—celebrating the bond between pets and pet parents while raising funds for homeless animals.

One of the stars of the event was BB the dog, a tripod rescue and the official mascot of Run Fur Life. BB’s inspiring story reminds everyone that every shelter pet deserves a second chance and that they, too, can give love and happiness to their forever families.

How Pet Adoption Creates Two Happier Lives

For more than three decades, Mars has built partnerships with NGOs, veterinarians, and communities across the Philippines to address pet homelessness. Their ongoing mission: ensure that every pet finds a loving home.

This year’s theme, #TwoLivesChanged, highlights the mutual transformation that happens through adoption—giving shelter pets a home and enriching the mental wellbeing of their owners. According to a 2025 Mars and CALM PAWS survey, 83% of people worldwide say their pets have improved their mental health.

In celebration of Global Adoption Weekend, Mars Philippines is donating over 30,000 daily pet meals to local shelters. From October 2025, shoppers can join the cause through the #TwoLivesChanged campaign on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok, where each purchase of PEDIGREE® or WHISKAS® products in Mars’ official stores contributes meals for shelter animals.
