It’s tough being a woman these days despite the fact that we are strengthened by our independence and skills. As we see the opportunities where we can pursue our career and passion, the increase of cases of violence against women is also getting steeper.
“Let’s all start to say no to violence against women!”
According to the Philippine Commission on Women, cases of rape or attempted rape, acts of lasciviousness, and physical injuries on women reported to the Philippine National Police have been on the rise since 2004 to 2013. Moreover, according to the 2008 National Demographic and Health Survey conducted by the National Statistics Office, one in five Filipino women age 15-49 has experienced physical violence since age 15.
To teach women how to protect themselves from such risks and in celebration of Women’s Month this March, Absolute Pure Distilled Drinking Water and the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) Philippines will be holding an open seminar entitled “Fight Like a Girl” on March 14, 2015, Saturday, at the Amoranto Stadium in Diliman, Quezon City.
Originally developed for the military and law enforcement units, Krav Maga has been adapted teach women self-defense systems for all types of threats and attacks. The event will be for the benefit of the Touch a Heart Foundation, an NGO supported by Absolute mom Judy Ann Santos–Agoncillo, who herself is an active member and student of IKMF Philippines.
Says Abe Cipriano, AVP for Marketing, ABI Non-Alcoholic Brands, “Absolute has always been a firm believer in women’s strength; we would like to empower women through building their physical and emotional confidence in their capacity to protect themselves. Aided with an arsenal of self-defense moves and techniques, Absolute supermoms will be able to provide the highest quality of protection, care, and love for their families.”

it’s about time that women can learn something to defend themselves. I remember my best friend was assaulted by an addict high on drugs and she was not able to defend herself well. Learning Krav maga is a must to protect women in particular.
uy this is really really useful and helpful esp now that there are so many rape and hold-up instances in taxi’s.
I always wanted to learn self-defense, just didn’t know where to enroll.
I always wanted to learn Jiu jitsu
Absolutely, we really have to learn, kahit basic self-defense. This is a must.
So many crimes happening that we needed the ability to protect ourselves.

My husband always gives me tips and demos on how to overpower men in case I am attacked. But he’s too easy on me so I don’t know if it really works. Hehehe. But this is great, especially now that crimes rates are increasing. Definitely, we should learn how to defend and protect ourselves.
I have girl friends who tried Krav Maga, and heard good feedbacks from them. It’s time we should all learn how to defend ourselves 🙂
yes its about time na tayong mga babae aware to depend ourselves sa oras ng pang-aabuso.
Learning self-defense is a must for women. I think that it should also be taught starting in grade school.
I really wanted to attend this one but I wasn’t available that day. I hope they schedule another one. This is important stuff!
This is a a great way of empowering women, teaching them self-defense. I myself would like to learn that.
