Last May 4, members of the Mommy Bloggers Philippines community had this opportunity to learn about an interesting medical technology which involves our brain. We were invited by the managing director of the Philippine Neurofeedback Center (PNC), Denise Celdran, for an intimate lunch in Green Pastures in Shangrila Mall, Pasig City and give us an idea of what Neurofeedback is all about.
To make it short and put it in mommy terms, Neurofeedback is some kind of a medical therapy which enhances brain functions by giving the person information about his brain activity. Yes, they have the mechanisms to be attached to the brain to read its brain activity and they are being shown to the person through videos. These mechanisms are non-invasive and the person won’t undergo any painful procedure. They call this as brain mapping. All the procedures are run by a team of certified neurofeedback doctors, paediatricians and psychometricians.
Their website Mindworks.com.ph lists out the following benefits which can be accomplished upon completing the personalised programs:
- Increase I.Q., focus and concentration
- Manage stress and improve sleep
- Regulate emotions and improve relationships
- Decrease mental clutter and increase productivity
- Learn a New Language
- Learn a Musical Instrument
- Master a Sport
The Philippine Neurofeedback Center’s website also lists out the persons with the following conditions who will benefit mainly from neurofeedback :
ADHD/ADD
Autism Spectrum
Bipolar Condition
Cerebral Palsy (except if severe)
Dementia/Alzheimers
Depression
Developmental Delay/Mental Delay
Diabetes Mellitus
Dylexia
Eating Disorder
Epilepsy/Seizure Disorder
Headache/Migraine
Hypertension
Insomnia
Irritable Bowel Syndrome/Bed wetting
Obsessive Compulsive Condition
Pain/Post Operative Recovery
Parkinson’s Disease
Post-traumatic stress
Schizophrenia
Sleep Apnea
Stroke
Stuttering
Tinnitus
Vertigo and Auditory Processing
For families who have members who suffer from these kinds of brain conditions, neurofeedback is definitely something to look into. It gives hope to everyone who wants to improve their lives without undergoing any medical surgeries or expensive medications. Oh wow, this is interesting! I’ll check this out!
Advances in technology has made treatment of brain disorder easier. I know many who would benefit from their services. Thanks for sharing.
I think I’ve heard of this before and I think I myself will benefit from this. Pero magkano? Affordy kaya sha?
I’m so happy to see this post. Being that my son has Autism, this is something worthy to look into.
It amazes me that just like surgeries, one could enhance or increase his IQ through this. All along my mom would tell me to read more to improve vocabulary or eat fish to make the brain work. This is really interesting and would like to try it for my kids.
Too bad I missed this. This sounds promising though. Those things in the movies where you can rewire the brain to learn a new language seems plausible now.
I’ve never heard of Neurofeedback until now! It sounds really interesting especially because my father suffered a stroke 10 years ago.
This is great news to people who are suffering from some brain conditions. I hope that it will be well-known and affordable so that its full benefits will be enjoyed. Thank you for sharing. “_
🙂
This is very interesting. My son has seizure disorder, though we’re hoping to graduate from his medicines this year. This is a good innovation. I hope it’s affordable 🙂

This is interesting, do you have an idea how much is the cost per session?
It is truly a great time to be alive now, with how advance modern technology is. This will surely be helpful. I also like how the procedure is non evasive, perfect for children patients.
It somehow reminds me of an EEG…
Interesting excepts for all those cables. I’m not sure though if I will subject myself to this kind of test.
