Lamoiyan Corporation Organizes Health Forum For Barangay Health Workers

Lamoiyan Corporation, maker of Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo,together with the Parañaque City Health Office, recently organized a health forum on head lice infestation or pediculosis as part of the Kilusang Kontra Kuto public health education campaign. The forum brought together Parañaque City Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) with the goal of raising awareness about head lice infestation issues in local communities.

Dr. Arlene Bertuso, entomologist and professor from the UP Manila College of Public Health, led the discussion by sharing lice statistics in the country, followed by different head lice infestation issues like the social stigma associated with pediculosis, the psychological trauma caused by bullying of lice-infested children and common misconceptions about head lice.Dr. Bertuso also discussed effective head lice treatments and preventive measures.

“We want to inform more people about head lice infestation issues by taking a more active role in promoting health and education,” shared Jacquiline Pe, Senior Marketing Associate of Lamoiyan Corporation. “We worked in close coordination with the Parañaque City Health Office, and had the opportunity to focus our efforts into educating local healthcare volunteers, who have a better grasp of public health problems that their community faces. Our main goal here is to provide BHWs with the tools and the information they need to combat head lice infestation in their communities,” said Pe.

Aside from organizing health forums for local communities, Lamoiyan Corporationalso provides free shampooing activities and lectures for children and parents through the Nationwide Oplan Alis Kuto, an annual caravan that travels to different schools across the country. The Licealiz caravan is currently in its last leg in Mindanao and is set to reach its goal of visiting 30 schools for the year.
