Every mom needs to have a break once in a while. Whether solitary or with companion, escaping the routinary activities from home, from the office or from a business, can restore not only physical vigor but also mental and emotional health. We’ve already proven this over time and now, what matters the most is that we find the right place to spend our well-deserved break.
One good hotel that we can recommend because of its affordability, modest size of its rooms, and the strategic location is City Garden Suites in Manila. When we were there, the hotel was able to offer more than we’ve expected.
Lounge
The expansive lounge impressed us with its shiny marble floor, large sofa for waiting people and warm staff who made us feel comfortable and unintimidated. We were surprised to see a money exchange counter though after a while, we thought it was sensible given that the hotel is very popular to tourists.
There’s a cocktail bar offering wines and beers, complete with stools and television to watch sports. Jay Ardes from City Garden Suites recommended a locally crafted beer Enkanto and we thought they will be perfect for daddies while they cool-off and wait for moms and the kids.
A grand piano is in display at the lounge, waiting for anyone to play a music or two. As of our visit, there were no schedules for guests to hear music but it would certainly be a great attraction if ever they will have something like this.
We got curious of a shelf full of flyers and found out that the hotel offers tours and activities for guests. The Keys To The City has maps and directions for guests to locate establishments and restaurants. For guests who want to try leisure activities outside Manila, the hotel has several partner establishments where the they can book the guests directly. They even offer a bambike tour where you can borrow bikes made of bamboo and trek Intramuros, Manila using these eco-bikes. Ain’t these cool?
City Garden Suites, aside from their affordable rates, has the most number and most affordable staycation packages we’ve ever seen. If you will check their website, they have packages for couples, families, barkadas and even for sports buffs (racecation packages).
Rooms
The one-bedroom suite we got was of average size for a couple and maybe one to two little kids. The vibe was cool and comfy and the amenities were complete (tv, coffee-maker, mini-refrigerator, closets, extra pillows, bathrobes and bidet in the bathroom). But it was noteworthy that the bed mattresses, pillows and duvets were at par with upscale hotels. We really enjoyed the complementary massage we had because of these beds.
For bigger families, City Garden Suites has a penthouse with complete kitchen amenities to hold small family affairs. What’s perfect in it is the spacious open-aired veranda. If you wish to get this space, you need to book very early especially if it’s for the holidays. You’ll be surprised of how affordable the rate of their penthouse is.
Cafe Miranda
We’ve tried lunch at Cafe Miranda and we sincerely recommend the place. The food was superb, served promptly and warm. That roasted chicken and the fish fillet photos you see were not as good as how they tasted. The ice cream flan for dessert was so smooth, sweet and lovable, that’s all we can say. You can see Cafe Miranda’s menu here. You can stay in bed and still indulge with the food from Cafe Miranda since they can deliver your orders upon request.
Location
City Garden Suites is a budget hotel that is close to the airport. The website has a page with complete details of how you can get to the hotel.
For families who wish to visit Manila, City Garden Suites can really give value for money. And moms will love it not only because of the worry-free daily rate but also because the hotel gives this homey feel. We can also think of so many ideas for the moms to enjoy the day, in and out of the hotel. Robinsons Place is just a few minutes away, and Mall of Asia is also accessible, if mom is up for malling. The kids will enjoy nearby theme park and museums (Star City, Mnila Ocean Park and Dessert Museum).
For a hotel within a city that never sleeps, City Garden Suites can be a quick sanctuary for everyone, not only for tourists after a tiring flight, for businessmen who need conference spaces, families who want to relax and have fun at the same time while keeping a budget, but most importantly for the queens, the mothers who never ask for a break but deserve one from time to time.
Hope this short review helped you have a quick peek at this nice hotel. We had a worthwhile stay during our visit and Century Garden Suites is worthy to be recommended. You can also watch the actual tour of the hotel before our stay.
For more complete info about the hotel, you can check City Garden Suites Manila in www.citygardensuites.com. You can also get an additional 5% discount apart from their promo rates when you use MOMMYBCITYGARDEN upon booking.
We will also be having a blog raffle where you can win a day of r&r in this beautiful hotel. So make sure that you follow Mommy Bloggers Philippines in our social media pages @mommybloggersphilippines.
Oh nice, few months ago I was looking for a hotel near the airport. I’ll take note of this.
This is a great place for a staycation. Hope to win the raffle. Thanks for sharing!
I was just looking for a hotel near Intramuros to stay at for a Manila tour I am planning for my kids. I wanted to take them to Intramuros and Binondo area and this hotel looks like perfect base point.
I miss staycations!!
I always love staycation. Sadly, my husband is so busy with work thus we no longer do out of town and even stay in hotels. It is nice that once in a while, we take a break from our usual buhay buhay.
Gusto ko yung massage chair sa penthouse, hehe. 🙂
Yes, us Moms need a break!
I like the idea of the bambike tour in Intramuros, sounds interesting and fun! And the food looks so yummy!
The rooms are big ha! I’d tell my family and friends about this!
Mom-cations are important! Time to recharge and do some leisure stuff that you won’t be able to do when you are at home. Location is also important.
Looks like a good place to relax! I love staycations as I get to rest for a while, forgetting all the household chores waiting for me each and every day.
How much is the rate for the penthouse? This seems to be a good location for our private gathering in August.
Hi Karen, last time we talked with the marketing manager, it’s around P6,000 up/night
Awesome place for staycation with family and friends!
My eyes are glued on the penthouse. Haha. I’ll check this out and see if we could visit 🙂
Moms like us do need to recharge and staycations like this are a must!
