Lamoiyan Corporation Partners With DepEd on KilusangKontraKuto

Lamoiyan Corporation, maker of Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo,has partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) for the KilusangKontraKuto initiative – a public health education campaign that aims to raise awareness about head lice infestation issues. The partnership was made official through a contract signing ceremony between DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, DepEd Undersecretary for Partnerships and External Linkages Atty. TonisitoUmali, Director IV of the DepEd External Partnerships Service Margarita Ballesteros, Lamoiyan Corporation Vice President and COO Joel Conrad Pedro, and Lamoiyan Corporation Marketing Director Bing Cavestany.

“Head lice infestation is not only one of the most widespread health problems among public school students,but also a health problem that carries a significant social stigma that has persisted because of misinformation,” shared Lamoiyan Corporation COO Joel Pedro. “We partnered with the Department of Education to help address this problem to the best of our abilities, and to provide schools and local communities with the right tools to combat head lice infestation and the stigma associated with having kuto,” said Pedro.

Through its partnership with DepEd, Lamoiyan Corporationwas able to donate kontra-kuto kitsand educational materialsto 348 schools nationwide, provide hygiene packs for Marawi relief operations, and organize shampooing activities and lectures for 7,000 children and parents and counting.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with DepEd and in working hand in hand with them in addressing health problems of school children in the country,” said Joel Pedro.

Aside from its participation in DepEd programs, Lamoiyan Corporation also provides free shampooing activities and lectures for children and parents through the Nationwide OplanAlisKuto, an annual caravan that travels to different schools across the country. The Licealiz caravan is currently in its last leg in Mindanao and is set to cap off its roadshow for the year.
